Getting Started with Duet

Welcome to Duet — an app created purposefully to give couples an intimate, private corner of the digital world. Unlike social media apps with newsfeeds, follower counts, and advertisements, Duet is strictly dedicated to you and your partner.

To begin using Duet:

1. Download and install the Duet app on both your and your partner's mobile devices (Android or iOS).
2. Launch the app and grant required permissions for notifications and local storage access.
3. Follow the on-screen pairing guide to connect both devices securely.

Pairing Devices with the 6-Digit Code

Duet uses a direct, cryptographic pairing mechanism. One partner initiates the space, and the other joins using an ephemeral 6-digit security code.

1. Partner 1 opens Duet and taps "Create Private Space".
2. A unique 6-digit pairing code (e.g. 413-892) appears on Partner 1's screen. The code remains valid for 15 minutes.
3. Partner 2 opens Duet, selects "Join Existing Space", and inputs the 6-digit code.
4. Both devices exchange public encryption keys and confirm the pair. Your private sanctuary is ready!

Private Chat & Messaging Features

Duet's private chat offers real-time, zero-distraction communication with end-to-end encryption. Only the two connected devices hold the private cryptographic keys necessary to decrypt your messages.

Key chat capabilities include:

• Exclusive Love Stickers: Express your feelings with handcrafted expressive couple stickers.
• Voice Memos: Send quick, crisp voice recordings with one-touch audio capture.
• Instant Reactions: Double-tap any message to send a heart reaction with cute haptic feedback.
• Disappearing Notes: Option to send time-sensitive messages that dissolve after being viewed.

Shared Photos, Videos & Moments

The Shared Moments album serves as your relationship scrap-book. All photos and videos shared in Duet retain their original quality without aggressive compression.

1. Navigate to the Moments tab on the bottom bar.
2. Tap the + icon to choose photos or videos from your device gallery.
3. Add an optional caption, date tag, and location memory before saving.
4. Your partner receives an instant notification and the photo is synchronized into your joint album.

Live Interactive Canvas: Draw Together

Draw Together brings an interactive shared whiteboard directly to your fingertips. Whether you are cuddling on the same couch or thousands of miles apart in different time zones, you can doodle, write sweet handwritten notes, and draw collaboratively in real time.

1. Tap "Draw" on the home dashboard or inside the chat screen.
2. Choose your brush size, vibrant pastel colors, or romantic neon glow effects.
3. When your partner is also active on the canvas, you will see their live cursor and brush strokes instantly.
4. Save completed drawings straight to your shared album or pin them to your home screen.

Shared Notes, Lists & Reminders

Keep your daily plans and relationship goals neatly organized. Duet provides collaborative checklists and rich notes that sync instantly between both partners.

• Date Night Bucket List: Brainstorm movies to watch, restaurants to visit, and travel destinations.
• Shopping & Errands: Shared grocery checklists that update automatically when either partner checks an item off.
• Secret Notes: Write letters of appreciation that unlock on specific dates or birthdays.

Milestone & Anniversary Day Counter

Never miss an important anniversary again. Duet's Special Counter keeps a precise count of the days you have been together, along with countdowns for upcoming celebrations.

1. Go to Settings > Relationship Details.
2. Set your First Met Date, Relationship Start Date, or Wedding Day.
3. Duet automatically calculates your total days of love and displays milestone banners (e.g. 100 days, 1 year, 1000 days).
4. Install the Duet Home Screen Widget on Android or iOS to view your live day counter at a glance.

Mood Tracking & Daily Status Check-Ins

Communication is about more than just words. Duet's Mood feature lets you quietly share your emotional state with your partner throughout the day.

How it works:

• Tap on your avatar on the home screen to pick a mood: In Love, Happy, Tired, Stressed, Missing You, or Excited.
• Add a short note explaining your mood if you wish (e.g. "Long workday, excited to see you later!").
• Your partner's screen reflects your updated status, complete with gentle suggestions like sending a quick hug or surprise sticker.

Connecting Personal Google Drive & OneDrive

Unlike other relationship apps that charge monthly subscriptions to store your photos on their private servers, Duet embraces a **Personal Cloud Architecture**.

You connect your own personal cloud storage (Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive), giving you total ownership of your files:

1. Navigate to Settings > Storage & Cloud Sync.
2. Select Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive.
3. Authorize Duet using standard OAuth 2.0 authentication. Duet creates an isolated folder named /Duet Space inside your drive.
4. All high-resolution photos and video memories are uploaded directly to your drive, encrypted before leaving your phone.

End-to-End Encryption, Passcodes & Biometrics

Your relationship is deeply personal, and Duet was engineered with privacy at the foundational level.

• End-to-End Encryption (E2EE): All messages, drawings, and metadata are encrypted on-device before transmission.
• App Lock (Biometrics & PIN): Enable Face ID, Fingerprint, or a 4-digit PIN lock each time the app opens or switches to the background.
• Zero Telemetry or Ad Trackers: Duet contains 0 analytics SDKs, 0 social trackers, and 0 advertising networks.
• Screenshot Protection: Option to enable secure display flags preventing unwanted screenshots on Android.
